SCHOOL CHANGE: Location Chosen For Displaced Students | News
West Des Moines school officials say they’ve found a temporary location for 600 students.
Hillside Elementary students will attend classes at the Lutheran Church of Hope for about two weeks.
The church is being used while crews complete work on the elementary building. The windows at the school have leaked since the school opened eight years ago.
During the replacement, authorities discovered a mold problem. With that, the school realized the work wouldn’t be done in time for fall classes.
The district is holding information meetings for parents on Monday.
One is at 10:00 a.m. and the other is at 5:30 p.m. Both are being held at Phenix Elementary at 415 7th Street.
