West Des Moines residents get a chance to meet some Tigers this week. Valley High School will hold Meet the Tigers night on Friday, August 10th, at 5 p.m. The annual event usually asks spectators to donate soap or sports beverages to the school’s teams, but this year they are reaching out to another area school.

The booster club is giving people the option to make donations to East High School. A fire at the East High stadium last week destroyed much equipment, locker rooms, and athletic offices.

“Fall is an exciting time, for most students and families, with back to school activities underway,” says Brad Rose, activities director, Valley High School. “But for East High School this year, these kids are questioning whether they will even have enough equipment to field their teams. We have a lot of student athletes and parents asking how they can help, so the booster club came up with this idea as a more formal way to generate support.”

The night will include the usual intra-squad football scrimmages and introduction of all fall sports teams including boys and girls cross country, volleyball, girls swimming, boys golf and football.

The booster club will also introduce new meal items to be offered at concessions this fall, and new merchandise featuring the new Valley tiger logo.
