TAX EVASION: Businessman Pleads Guilty | Business
With the IRS processing tax returns as of January 30th, one West Des Moines businessman serves as a warning.
Charles Barbour plead guilty Wednesday to failing to report almost $200,000 of income over four years from 2006. He understated his income and claimed false business expenses according to an IRS press release.
Sentencing is due May 9th for the denture manufacturer. Barbour faces a maximum of penalty of five years in prison, a maximum fine of $250,000 or a combination of both.
As part of his plea, he has agreed to pay back taxes owed.
Barbour is currently released on bond until his sentence is decided upon.
