PUBLIC ART: Artists Wanted | Arts & Culture

Iowa artists are being offered the chance to receive a $1,000 stipend for their work that can be contributed to a public art exhibit.

The West Des Moines Public Arts Commission’s inaugural summer event will feature up to 12 sculptures around the City/Schools Campus pond beginning in July and running through the end of September.

"We are excited to introduce our community to public art." shared Commission Chairperson Brenda Sedlacek.  "The variety of artistic works on display will appeal to a broad range of people and will likely engage and stimulate them to enjoy art in new and exciting ways." she added.  

Artists are being asked to first come up with concepts that interpret the theme of healthy living set by the principals of The Blue Zones philosophy.

Applications must be submitted by February 28th and will be reviewed by a section panel.
